Before and After: Thrifted Upholstered Ottoman

March 05, 2018

If you've read my other posts, you know how much I love thrift store shopping for home decor and furniture. The key to finding the good stuff is to see beyond the ugly patterns and colors. There is so much DIY potential!

This little ottoman was UGLY when I bought it. It had honey wood legs, and a *patriotic* navy fabric with white stars. I knew it had potential. It was sturdy, and I liked the shape. And it was $6.99. When I bought it, I had never upholstered anything before, and I thought it would be a good starter project. It sure was!

When I got the ottoman home and flipped it over, I noticed that the blue and white fabric was very messily stapled on. I pulled up the staples and ripped the fabric back to reveal an equally unattractive peach floral print. No bueno.

A little spray paint and some new fabric made this homely ottoman SO beautiful.
